PERFORMANCE HEALTH ROLYAN REACH MASSAGER
Overwatch was asked to help develop the next-generation Rolyan Reach Massager, improving the previous design. Prior to putting pen to paper, we conducted a review of the patent landscape at the time, as one of the primary objectives of the projects was to avoid any infringement.
From there, Overwatch explored several design concepts that met the technical requirements of the product and enhanced the user experience. In order to yield a more robust, we explored a variety of materials. Through the user of computer-generated 3D simulation software, Overwatch was able to quickly iterate several design proposals with the materials, ultimately coming up with an optimized design.
After several rounds of design refinement and optimization, the new Rolyan Reach Massager was ready to be tooled for production manufacturing. Overwatch worked closely with the client’s tooling and molding vendors to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
In addition to reducing painful knots in the muscles, the massager provides a soothing, penetrating massage for faster muscle recovery. The ergonomic design features 8 strategically positioned treatment heads along the massager to provide optimal coverage while being used. The handle of the massager is ribbed, improving the grip over the old product for easier use.
The use of 3D simulation software (aka: FEA) allowed us to digitally “prototype”, baseline, and compare the previous design against the new design. This dramatically reduced the cost of physical prototypes and improved Time To Market.
