HEATHROW SCIENTIFIC ADJUSTABLE TEST TUBE RACK
Heathrow Scientific challenged Overwatch to design a low-cost rack to hold multiple size tubes and vials. The team at Overwatch developed a unique design with two simple parts, making the solution functional and elegantly simple.
The Challenge
Having samples in the tubes visible from all angles by the laboratory technicians was one of several design challenges. Additional requirements included a need to support multiple quantities of vials/tubes with various volumes. The design needed to be easily assembled with a few low-cost parts.
Cool Fact
The rack holds 5 ml microcentrifuge tubes and 15 ml conical centrifuge tubes via an adjustable height mechanism. The ability to support and adjust for different size vials/tubes was achieved with only 3 molded parts.
