The Mechanical Engineer position is an important player on the Overwatch team.  This position is responsible for solving unique product design problems that must be based on a solid mechanical foundation.  The Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities include all aspects of mechanical design and development to ensure performance, reliability, and an overall high-quality deliverable to our clients.  In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will work on solo assignments and collaboratively with other team members.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Mechanical design and development of parts, mechanisms, and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Present and participate in mechanical design reviews
  • Comprehends clients’ requirements for the products that Overwatch is developing and drives to meet these requirements
  • Assist with business development by providing product expertise and solutions as needed
  • Collaborates with management to estimate time require for project work and focuses efforts to align with these time estimates
  • Assemble and evaluate proof of concept mockups
  • Build and test functional prototypes
  • Coordinate with outside parts suppliers for prototype and production

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • A true problem solver that can stretch outside of their chosen field
  • Must have a thirst for knowledge and experiential growth
  • Strong expertise with Solidworks, including complex assembly and surface modeling knowledge
  • Experience working with several manufacturing methods that use a variety of materials
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding and experience with 2D technical drawings including GD&T and conventional drawing standards
  • 10+ years mechanical engineering experience
  • 5+ years experience in product design for consumer, commercial, or industrial devices

Additional Skills Preferred

  • Consultancy experience
  • FEA/Simulation experience
  • Experience with outside agencies such as NSF, FDA, UL, CE, etc.
